ST2 and ST3 are surface preparation grades commonly associated with hand and power tool cleaning under ISO 8501 terminology. ST2 means thorough tool cleaning removes loose rust, mill scale, and coating. ST3 is more intensive, producing a more pronounced metallic sheen. These are not the same as abrasive blast standards, which are typically specified separately when a defined anchor profile is required.
